Costa Rica has always been on our travel bucket list, and we finally had the opportunity to visit this beautiful country. Our destination was the Riu Guanacaste, an all-inclusive resort nestled along the stunning Matapalo Beach. We were eager to experience the blend of relaxation and adventure that this resort promised.
First Impressions & Check-In Experience
Upon arrival, we were immediately captivated by the resort’s lush surroundings and grand entrance. However, our check-in experience was less than ideal. The process was slow and lacked thoroughness; we weren’t provided with a resort map or the necessary towel cards. Additionally, there was a billing oversight, requiring us to return to the front desk multiple times to complete our check-in.
Resort Highlights
Despite the initial hiccup, the resort offered several noteworthy amenities:
- Culinary Delights: The dining options were impressive, with a variety of cuisines available at both the buffet and specialty restaurants. Each meal was a delightful experience, catering to diverse palates.
- Water Park Fun: The on-site water park was a highlight, especially for families. The splash pad and water slides were thoughtfully designed with safety in mind, featuring fenced areas that allowed parents to relax while children played.
- Evening Entertainment: The RiuLand Kids’ Club provided engaging activities every evening, including dancing and movie nights, ensuring that younger guests were entertained.
Final Thoughts
While our stay at Riu Guanacaste had a rocky start due to the check-in process, the resort’s amenities and overall atmosphere provided a memorable vacation experience. We hope that the management addresses the check-in procedures to enhance future guests’ experiences.
